Federal Judge: N.Y. Law Applies To Punitive Damages Claims In Plane Crash Suit

BUFFALO, NY – The law of New York, which has no cap on punitive damages, applies to claims filed by plaintiffs suing over a 2009 airline crash, a federal judge ruled July 18, rejecting the airlines’ motion to apply the law of Virginia (In Re: Air Crash Near Clarence Center, New York, On February 12, 2009, No. 09-md-2085, W.D. N.Y.).
