The extent of the driverās injuries is unknown; no other vehicles were involved.
Comments from The Trucking Attorneys
Truck drivers have to be careful in ramp maneuvers because their articulated vehicles track differently than normal vehicles.Ā The trailer tires do not necessarily follow in the same arc as the tractor tires. In this case, it was very fortunate that other vehicles were not near the tractor-trailer when the driver made this mistake. We have handled cases in the past involving highway entry or exit ramp accidents caused by trailers, and you can look at our past case results by clicking here.
Tips for You
Many people experience frustration when entering and exiting a freeway. Often there is oncoming traffic on the highway, and merging can be difficult. It is vital to the safety of those on the ramp and those already on the highway that truck drivers maintain control of their tractor-trailers.
It is also vital that drivers of passenger vehicles allow trucks to merge. Do you give merging tractor-trailers a wide enough berth? It may mean the difference between life and death. Check out our trucking blind spot blog to see how much space you need to give a tractor-trailer to ensure that the driver can see you and avoid colliding with you.
