Dispute Over Hailstorm Damage Does Not Support Bad Faith Claim, Judge Rules

OKLAHOMA CITY – A policyholder has not shown that a disagreement with his insurer over the coverage amount for hailstorm damage was due to bad faith by the insurer, an Oklahoma federal judge ruled July 8, granting in part the insurer’s motion for summary judgment (Harlan Hartsfield v. Farmers Insurance Company Inc., et al., No. 10-585, W.D. Okla.; 2011 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 73857).
