A woman who claims her husband died of an asbestos-related disease has filed a lawsuit against 79 companies blaming them for her husband's passing.
Carolyn Delano filed the lawsuit in Jefferson County District Court on behalf of her husband, Jerry Delano. In the suit, filed April 2, Delano says her husband died of an illness caused by asbestos he was exposed to as an ironworker. The lawsuit alleges the asbestos came from products manufactured by the defendants.
Delano is suing the companies for failing to properly test their products for safety before releasing them onto the market. Her lawsuit seeks compensation for Jerry’s Delano’s pain and suffering, mental anguish, physical disfigurement, medical bills, lost wages, and other damages.
Among the defendants in the suit are Lockheed Martin Corp., A.O. Smith Corp., and Zurn Industries, LLC. Delano is also suing 3M Co. and American Optical Corp. for supplying defective masks that failed to protect her husband from the asbestos.
