Woman Imprisoned for Helping Teen Lover Seeks Custody Change for Child

A woman imprisoned for the statutory rape of a 15-year-old boy and later helping him flee the state has had her request to remove their 15-month-old son from the care of his foster parents denied.
Lisa Lynette Clark appeared before Douglas County Judge Robert James on May 29 to ask that another couple be allowed to care for her son while she is in prison. She contended that the couple now in custody of her son do not bring him often enough to the prison for visits. The judge denied her request.
Clark served a nine-month sentence last year for statutory rape. She was subsequently sentenced to two additional years in prison for helping the 15-year-old father of her child escape custody and leave the state in February 2006.
The couple currently caring for Clark’s child say that they will seek permanent custody of the boy, setting the stage for a much larger custody battle next year, when Clark is scheduled to be released from prison.
